A strategy to reduce heavy sedation and increase mobilization in medical ICU patients has been shown to be safe, reduce delirium, improve function, and reduce ICU and hospital length of stay. With this in mind, it is important to move a patient from their lying position, and often a recliner has been shown to be a comfortable, safe alternative.
